Mrs. Michelle Wanders To All Instructors
Michelle Wanders is a homeschool mom of 3 boys, avid gardener, hobbyist photographer, bibliophile, and aspiring polymath. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. A minor in "Pre-Health" covered a wide range of science courses from biochemistry to physics to genetics. During her undergraduate studies, Michelle gained valuable experience working as a research assistant in a neuroscience and a chemistry lab as well as tutoring for Intro Astronomy. She graduated with highest honors from the nationally recognized Arizona Blue Chip Program, a four year leadership development program.
In 2007, Michelle earned her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University, which allowed her to enjoy a career as a Speech Language Pathologist in both the public school and hospital settings. Her concentration was on speech sound disorders, literacy, and cognition. Michelle continues to research these areas and holds related workshops for the homeschool community.
Michelle loves science and has a passion for education. As a former speech language pathologist, she integrates language and cognitive skills training into her curriculum. Michelle feels that science is an excellent vehicle to improve critical thinking skills, executive function, reasoning, problem-solving, and written and oral expression. She strives to equip her students with functional skills that will transcend the science classroom and prepare them for success in adulthood, whichever path they choose.
