Mrs. Melissa Kean To All Instructors

Hello! I'm so glad to be joining BU as a tutor, teaching middle school science and marine biology. My family moved from Portland, Oregon to Texas in 2020, and we've grown to love the Hill Country and so much of what Texas has to offer. For over nine years I've had the joy of homeschooling my own 4 children, along with tutoring and teaching online and locally. I hold a master's degree in microbiology from Arizona State University, and my professional background includes laboratory research in drug development and immunology, published work in those fields, and experience in pharmaceutical and biotech sales. I have a deep love of scientific inquiry and an inquisitive mind that I've kept sharp through reading and auditing graduate coursework. I look forward to bringing real-world laboratory experience, academic excellence, and a love of God's design into the classroom.
