Mr. Joel Ortega To All Instructors

I am not from Texas originally, but I got here as soon as I could! Born in Mexico and moved with my parents to Southern California when I was 9yrs old.I learned to speak English in 6th grade.I graduated at the age of 16 with my class in 1995. I met who would later become my wife in 1996, & have been married almost 30yrs. We have 6 children ranging from 28 down to 6. We have 2 grandsons 7 & 6yrs old. My wife and I have been homeschooling for over 15yrs now. 2 of our children currently attend our sister church's academy. My family and I enjoy taking road-trips, and if we pass near a Buc-Eee's, you know we have to stop - LoL! We like tent camping, which we do at least once a year round the Hill Country.

As a family we like trying new dishes, we enjoy baking, specially during winter. Our family has been attending and serving at the church we 1st attended when we arrived in Texas - now called Calvary Chapel Jesus is The Way.We have served in multiple ministries throughout the years. Children's ministry, Youth, Usher, Cleaning, A/V, Worship, and other ministries. I received my call into ministry by the Lord in 2009. And in 2014 I became assistant pastor. Later in 2015 after much confirmation from the Lord, became the senior pastor at our church.

I have worked for the Toyota Plant as procurement manager, have been self employed, worked at FEAST Homeschool, enjoy media creation as a hobby, Tutor Spanish, Financial Lit. Elem. Math & Pre-Algebra, and other subjects.
